The high standard of care that Brooks strives for has earned it credit as one of Florida’s only state-designated treatment facilities for brain and spinal cord injuries in both children and adults. Jackson Memorial Rehabilitation Center provides both inpatient and outpatient services to a wide variety of patients, including those with all levels of brain and spinal cord injury. Patients span all ages, from adults to children. Jackson’s patients are the recipients of individualized care furnished by a multidisciplinary team made up of doctors, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech/language pathologists, recreational therapists, counselors, and psychiatrists. The goal of the program, working together with both the patient and his or her family, is to return the patient to the maximum amount of function and independence in the shortest period of time. Jackson Memorial Rehabilitation Center is also the home of the South Florida Regional Spinal Cord Injury Model System. This center is a collaborative effort between the University of Miami School of Medicine, the Miama Project to Cure Paralysis, Jackson Memorial Hospital, and the Miami VA Medical Center. The West Florida Rehabilitation Institute, which is licensed by the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitation Services, is the only facility that offers brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation in the Pensacola area. In addition to striving to ensure that all patients return to maximum independence in all areas, the institute has a comprehensive family education program that allows parents, siblings, and other individuals important to the survivor to take part in and support the rehabilitation process. The brain injury unit comprises 10 beds, while the spinal cord injury unit comprises 16 beds. The institute is designated a Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Center by by the State of Florida. The West Florida Rehabilitation Institute is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), as well as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

The 59-bed Tampa General Rehabilitation Center is located on the Tampa General Hospital Campus. The center treats spinal cord and brain injured adults and children, and is designated as a Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Program by the Florida Department of Health. An integrated, multidisciplinary approach is the focus, so that patients can achieve their full potential. Family members are encouraged to work alongside the medical team in the rehabilitation process.
