Children' s Specialized Hospital is the largest freestanding pediatric rehabilitation hospital in the United States. The hospital offers Centers of Excellence in both brain injury and spinal cord injury. The Brain Injury Program, which was established in 1981, provides care for children of all levels of cognitive awareness, from infants to young adults up to age 21. The program focuses on returning the child to the maximum amount of function, while also taking pediatric and developmental milestones into account.
