Rusk Rehabilitation Center is a partnership between University of Missouri Healthcare and HealthSouth. In addition to treatment focused on limiting disability, promoting independence, and restoring function, Rusk Rehabilitation Center also participates in research and education. Rusk features both a Spinal Cord Injury Program and a Brain Injury Program. In both programs, therapy is individualized and provided by a multidisciplinary team comprising physiatrists, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech/language pathologists, respiratory therapists, and neuropsychologists. Rusk Rehabilitation Center is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), as well as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
SSM Rehabilitation, located at St. Mary' s Health Center in St. Louis, provides inpatient rehabilitation for survivors of both brain and spinal cord injury. The goal of both programs is to help patients achieve maximum function and independence, as well as give them the skills and confidence to live the best life possible. Patients have access to physiatry, neuropsychology, case management, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, case management, rehabilitation nursing, and pastoral care services. The Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City provides outpatient services only to a wide variety of patients, including those with spinal cord and brain injury. Services are available for people of all ages, and focus on helping individuals progress to their highest physical, social, and vocational potentials. The Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). It is also certified as a Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Facility (CORF), which makes it eligible for Medicare reimbursement for outpatient services.
