Pushing Boundaries is an outpatient therapy center designed to help people with all kinds of paralysis regain function and independence. The center treats patients who are newly injured, as well as those who have been coping with their injury or illness for years and are looking for new options. Pushing Boundaries provides a comprehensive evaluation before designing an individualized program, helps the patient set and monitor goals, and tracks progress at regular intervals. Patients have access to the latest equipment and technology.
The University of Washington Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is dedicated to improving the function and independence and quality of life of people with spinal cord injury. In addition to patient care, the department is a leader in education and training, research, and patient advocacy. The center is home to the Northwest Regional Spinal Cord Injury System, which is one of 14 model spinal cord injury centers designated by NIDRR. University of Washington Medical Center Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), as well as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
